Masunaga belongs to Japan’s largest and most eminent eyewear manufacturers in the world. They are produced in Fukui, Japan where 97% of Japanese-made eyewear glasses frames are manufactured. Masunaga is responsible for establishing the Fukui prefecture in the western part of the main Honshu island as a hotbed for eyeglasses manufacturing. Japanese craftsmanship is reputable around the world and a large number of international eyeglasses companies rely on Japan to produce high-end eyewear.
The founder Gozaemon Masunaga recruited skilled craftsmen from Osaka and Tokyo with the ambition of elevating the eyeglasses standard. There are as many as 200 manual processes involved in making an eyeglass frame. Masunaga continues to value manual craftsmanship in their production process and handles all of the manufacturing in-house. Masunaga is the only company in Japan that has a factory responsible for the
complete processing of raw materials,
production, and
finishing.
